What began as Probus Pork has flourished into something a little more — the home to traditional Cornish pigs, free-range hens, and much more!
For us, farming is not about cutting corners or chasing mass production. We're simply not interested in the low-quality products you find in most supermarkets.
Our philosophy is simple: raise animals with genuine care, produce food we are proud to put on our own table, and offer our community something far better than the average supermarket shelves can provide. It's a way of life — sometimes 24/7 — but it is a life we absolutely love.
Probus Produce is local to its core. Our pigs, eggs and timber are all rooted right here in Cornwall. No two days are ever the same — and that's exactly how we like it!

Jon grew up at Lamellyn, where his family have lived for many years. Jon's focus over the last few years has been on diversification. He and Susie have re-introduced livestock after decades of absence (Cornish Black pigs and free-range hens). He has also started actively managing the woodland and transitioning the rest of the land into a more varied arable system. All of these changes revolve around sustainability and biodiversity.
Whether he’s out in the mud with the pigs, collecting eggs, chainsawing or running the sawmill, he loves balancing the farm's history with a very hands-on approach. His favourite part of farm life is seeing biodiversity thrive and watching the animals enjoy living naturally outdoors. His least favourite part? The never-ending to-do list!!

Susie is new to farming, having grown up in a town in Berkshire. She works full-time in the NHS, but loves helping out on the farm around her job and is on a steep learning curve in her induction to farm life! Alongside Jon, she plays a vital role in keeping Probus Produce running smoothly, helping with social media and day to day jobs with the animals. Her favourite part of farming is seeing and being part of bringing new life into the world when the pigs farrow. Her least favourite part is slipping over in the pig pens when the winter mud gets deep and the pigs get boisterous!!
